FHS students had a great time on their recent field trip to CMU’s Fire Up for English event with Mrs. Krygier and Mrs. Howson. They participated in lessons from college professors on literature, poetry, and creative writing. They learned about the various career opportunities using an English degree, and some shared an original piece in front of the English department. At the end of the day, they enjoyed a special performance by the band Daryl and the Beans. They even ran into an FHS alumni, Matthew Hayes, who is thriving in his CMU experience!

Our FHS LINKS students joined others from Birch Run, Bridgeport, Chesaning, Heritage, and St. Charles to attend the LINKS Leadership Conference promoting acceptance, friendship, and inclusion. We are so grateful to our LINKS students for all of the positive support they provide in our school.

FHs is proud to highlight our Theater teacher, Mrs. Murray this week. Thank you for everything you do for our students!

Recently, FHS students in Mrs. Richardson's class had a visitor, Dr. Gina Malczewski, from the Midland American Chemical Society (ACS) for a session on “Picture Perfect Chemistry”—this year’s National Chemistry Week theme. Students discussed the use of images, and then made some with light and objects on “starlight” paper, then studied magnets and learned about how that force allows image-making on a Magna Doodle. We also “probed” magnetic surfaces for information about magnetic objects and made 3-D images in molds with two different chemical reactions: one involving Plaster of Paris, and the other, reactive silicones—which yielded casts with very different properties.
