Homecoming Memories

The FHS office received a call on Thursday morning from Mrs. Alton who resides in Falconview Estates that her 22 year old pet turtle, Fred Turtalli had escaped her yard. She called wondering if anyone had seen him during the previous night's soccer game or if the team could hunt for him at their Thursday practice. Mr. Nixon took his Advanced PE classes out on a turtle hunt, after hearing that the soccer team did in fact see a turtle at their game the night before. The hunt was a success and Fred was returned to Mrs. Alton. In return for the classes kindness - she invited them over today for fresh-baked cookies to show her appreciation. Mrs. Alton told the boys how much her and Fred enjoyed seeing soccer and football play on their fields, along with the noise that the games bring. We are so proud of our students for helping our community members!

Today we are highlighting Mr. Byrne, who teaches Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing. This is Mr. Byrne’s second year at FHS, and his twelfth year in education. Mr. Byrne feels the most rewarding thing about teaching is being able to witness the growth students show in their knowledge and skills acquired during class. As our JV Soccer Coach, he compares his teaching to coaching and he spends a great deal of time building skills sets which requires him to work one on one with students. This approach helps him build individual relationships. He enjoys working in our district because being a community school has a positive impact on our school culture and everyone really cares for one another and our school.

If you are interested in participating in the Homecoming parade on Friday, October 5, please remember to pick up a parade application in any building office. Parade applications are due September 28.
