Congratulations to the Freeland Formulators, an FES robotics team, that competed over Zoom over the past weekend. They had to submit robot missions, an innovative project, and were interviewed by a team of judges. The Freeland Formulators won the Robot Design Award.

The Freeland Varsity Competitive Cheer team finished up their regular season with a 3rd place TVC finish and a season high total score of 670. The team, including their 4 year Varsity Senior Ashley Traverse, will next compete in Districts, March 20 @ Alma. Good luck.

We are excited to be able to extend our commitment to Freeland and surrounding communities. Free meals will continue through September!

The Freeland National Honor Society recently participated in a Virtual Polar Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics. Freeland raised almost $7000 and took home the 2nd place trophies for both the largest team and the most money raised by a school. Freeland’s expected sinking fund projects for 2021 include: asphalt/ concrete installation/repair, two outdoor lighting projects, asbestos tile removal/replacement and renovations to the Learning Center cafeteria, and any needed roofing or HVAC (secondary schools) replacement.

As we strive to continually improve our nutrition services program, this brand new steamer will be a great addition to our elementary building. This will allow for steaming of fresh and frozen vegetables, among other items. Due to increased breakfast and lunch participation we are able to add new equipment. The ballot language for the May 4th sinking fund proposal is below:
Freeland Community School District Sinking Fund Millage Proposal
Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in Freeland Community School District, Saginaw, Midland and Bay Counties, Michigan, be increased by and the board of education be authorized to levy not to exceed 2 mills ($2.00 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 8 years, 2021 to 2028, inclusive, to create a sinking fund for the purchase of real estate for sites for, and the construction or repair of, school buildings, for school security improvements, for the acquisition or upgrading of technology and all other purposes authorized by law; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2021 is approximately $891,702?

Freeland Varsity Girls won against Bridgeport last night, 62-23. Boys Basketball fell to Bridgeport on Tuesday, 55-62.

MS/HS Falcons, get ready for some exciting changes to the café and serving areas. Today a team met to discuss a refresh of the café, a complete remodel of the serving lines and a coffee bar for the 2021/2022 school year. Much more to come!


The MS/HS students are able to choose a grab and go breakfast on the way to class each day. There is always a hot and cold option. For lunch today, we have fresh fruit parfaits, turkey and cheese wraps or the Falcon Philly. ALL meals are FREE to students!
