5th grade Summer Scholars learned about how fossils are created and what palentologists can learn from them throughout the week as they researched sharks and other ocean life. As a culminating activity, students became palentologists and dug through the sediment from Aurora Fossil Quarry located in North Carolina to identify a variety marine fossils. Students chose their favorite fossil they found and created a scratch art diagram of the organisms.

The 5th-8th Grade students toured the Alden B. Dow home today. They focused on architecture and design elements that connected with our math lessons during the Summer Scholars program.

A huge thanks to the Saginaw Valley Equine Center for hosting our 6th-8th Summer Scholars. Students learned the anatomy of the horses, got to groom & feed them, learned how to ride the horses, and tour the facility. The students had a blast!
