This group won one of the closest lunch trivia games we have had at FMS. It went right down to the last question as they edged out 2nd place by a score of 5779 to 5566 to earn SOAR slips and this shout out on social media.

Today was the first day of the prosecution and defense teams building their cases for the "Tell Tale Heart" Mock Trial in Ms. Ruffertshofer's 8th Grade ELA classes. We look forward to see who builds the strongest argument moving ahead!

Two new initiatives in our FMS Leadership Classes are the addition of a school store and school newspaper. Congrats to the students who have taken positions in these new endeavors!

FMS was able to welcome students who are new to Freeland this year at a luncheon on Friday. Thank you to Mr. Fattal and our Student Leadership crew for hosting this event. The students enjoyed pizza and visited with us so that we could get to know them.

We would like to recognize our FMS September Students of the Month. The staff is choosing 4 8th graders and 4 7th graders each month that display the S.O.A.R. expectations in our building. Each Student of the Month will receive 5 S.O.A.R. tickets for upcoming drawings along with some other prizes. The next SOAR drawing will be at the Homecoming Pep Assembly in October. Mr. Kaczor's Team Sports class held the first annual Team Sports Track and Field Championships this past week. FMS Team 2 (aka Da Winners) won in dramatic fashion. They were up by one point going into the last event (the 4x100). They took second in it which made them tied with Team 3. Not allowing ties, they have to go into another event head to head which was the 55 meter dash and they squeaked out the victory!

Here are today's winners of our Brain Teaser Monday at FMS lunch. They were the first ones to get all 8 rebus puzzles correct to earn SOAR slips and this shout out on social media!

Students in Mrs. Freel's 7th Grade ELA class did a team building activity where one student was blind folded and had to solve the puzzle with only verbal directions from their peers. They worked together to solve a difficult task and they did were awesome!

FMS loves to see our students doing cool things in the community! We would like to shout out 8th grader Alex Freier who is the lead for "It's Your Dollar" at WakeUp Midland though the Midland Business Alliance. He does this on the first Friday of the month throughout the school year and his segment highlights local nonprofits and the events they are sponsoring. Great job, Alex!
