Mrs Henning’s fifth grade scientists designed and engineered hydro garden (no soil) systems after analyzing plant growth data to determine what plants need to grow. After several weeks of growing time and design improvements these hydro gardens have yielded successful plants and bean seed pods to complete the plant life cycle.

Mrs. Henning's 5th grade science students designed and built water filtration devices today to investigate how different materials such as rocks, pebbles, sand, sponges, and cotton balls could work to clean water. The challenge also required that students redesign and rebuild their devices to strive for water filtering improvements. Many students claimed their filtered water was clean enough to drink!

As Freeland Elementary is a guest graciously being allowed to use the Zion Lutheran parking lot at the end of the day, I ask that parking spaces please be used. Although the driveway appears wide enough to park along, it is requested that the drive not be used as a parking space. This includes the empty space next to the Zion Lutheran sidewalk. Please contact Freeland Elementary with any questions or concerns.
