Our very own elementary school Robotics team, called “Robo Force Team #4883” (Makenna Geurts, Mia Hileman, Lauren Messing, & Grace Mullen), presented to Mrs. Chislea last week. They are working on a project focused on creating an accessible playground for our school, and making recess fun for ALL students- especially students who have physical disabilities. We are so proud of these girls! They have great ideas and thoughtfulness towards their peers. These young community members will make a difference for the lives of others.

The students in Ms. Darrow’s class studied the book titled Balloons over Broadway this last week. They worked on digging deeper into vocabulary and comprehension. They completed their study with a stem project with Ms McKees class. We made our own balloons and finished the day with a parade.

The Freeland Middle School (6-8) wrestling team has a successful opening week of wrestling. They defeated four teams and outscored their opponents 197-87. Ela Mae Klopf was the wrestler of the week. She secured a victory by pin against her St. Louis opponent. The quickest pin of the week goes to Brigham Smith, who needed only 10 seconds to pin his Hemlock opponent. That is a fast pin! 6th Grade Winners for the week Bryson Lynch Easton Rosebush Ela Mae Klopf Zack Clark Brigham Smith Great job 6th grade!

I'm excited to announce that Elena Nicholson is coming to Central MI on 9/19 and 9/20! Please join us for a special time as we hear how a simple Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift helped change her life! When she was just 8 years old, she and her sister were moved from an abusive, poverty-stricken home into an orphanage in the former Soviet Union. At a time when she was feeling unloved, she was handed a shoebox gift. It was the first gift she had ever received. With the gift, Elena was given hope. Fortunately, a loving family from the US adopted Elena and her sister! For over 25 years, Operation Christmas Child has been sending shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies & hygiene items to children around the world affected by war, poverty & natural disasters. It’s a fun way for people of all ages to have a global impact! Join us at this free, informational event to hear how you can send a shoebox gift & make a difference! Join us to hear Elena's testimony this Thursday or Friday! These informational events are free and open to the public. Shoeboxes will also be available. Thank you!
