Freeland Community School District (FCSD) is proud to honor Ms. Kaylie Quimby as our staff highlight this week. This is Ms. Quimby’s first year at FCSD and fourth year of teaching in the special education field. Ms. Quimby works at Freeland Elementary co-teaching in 2nd and 3rd grade. She came to FCSD from a school district just north of Chicago, Illinois teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th grade special education students. She holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in Special Education and a master's degree from Michigan State University in Education Technology. You can say her blood runs green through and through.
Ms. Quimby feels the most rewarding thing about being a special education teacher is watching her students meet their academic and social goals. She said, “They work so hard all year long and when they finally see the results of their hard work their confidence grows it makes me the happiest person.” Ms. Quimby truly knows that she is making a difference in the lives of those students who need that extra positivity and support in their lives.
Ms. Quimby enjoys working at FCSD. Not only does she love the relationships she has built with her students and parents, but she also feels at home with her colleagues. They have welcomed her with open arms and allowed her to soar like a true Freeland Falcon. Ms. Quimby believes she is very blessed to call this district her home.
