Do you know a middle school girl who is curious about technology? Camp Infinity is a one-week summer technology camp for girls entering grades 5th-8th in Fall 2019. Camp Infinity introduces girls to computer and internet technologies through hands-on activities. FMS 7th grade student, Michael Huegel, scored well on his Math Counts math competition last Saturday at SVSU, and after the Math Competition Michael had the opportunity to meet and talk with the SVSU's Robotics Team, and Formula One Racing Team. Congratulations Michael!

What a great way to end Friday night. Freeland Middle School 8th grade band students just received straight 1s during their festival performance. This is an amazing achievement for our band students. Congratulations to Mr. Shaw and the 8th grade band.
Tonight was a fun and busy night for our middle school students! Our boys basketball team played Swan Valley, and at halftime our Pom team put on a great performance. In addition to this, our 7th grade band did a great job during their winter concert!


8th grade students, Pritesh Ravi and Makenzie Schultz, were recognized today for their achievements. Pritesh is moving on to the state competition for the America and Me Essay Contest and Makenzie was awarded The President’s Volunteer Service Award for her volunteer work at the elementary school. Our teachers are so proud of both students!

Students in Mr. Townsend and Ms. Mehnert’s 7th grade Health class had a K9 Officer visit during their unit on making healthy and safe lifestyle choices.


All 8th graders interested in taking Honors English or Honors Biology in 9th grade next year must take the entrance exam to be accepted into the class. The Honors English test will be 7th hour on February 21st. The Honors Biology test will be 7th hour on February 28th. Both tests will be in the cafeteria. Sign-ups for the tests are in the middle school office.
FMS celebrated all that our students have accomplished during the SOAR assembly today. Congratulations to all studnets who were recognized for outstanding work this semester!
On Thursday our Nonviolence/Respect Team had our student body participate in mix-up day at lunch. Students sat with, and got to know new people during lunch while playing trivia together.



Mr. Duley and our FMS nonviolence/respect week team presented to classes today about the importance of standing up for one another as we work to promote respect and kindness in our school.

Middle School Students will take their mid-year screener using the NWEA testing platform tomorrow, January 23rd. Students will go to their first hour like normal. After first hour, students need to report to their homeroom teacher (3rd hour teacher) for testing.
In order to review argument writing terms for Mrs. Howson's upcoming workshop, students participated in a crime scene investigation in 7th grade English, where they had to play the role of a detective, examining evidence to come up with claim and reasons.
A big thank you to our Falcon Parent Support Organization, volunteer students and parents for putting on another successful FMS Exam Cram! Students had a great time studying together.
