FMS had a fun afternoon celebrating our 1st Semester Successes. Students received certificates for Honor Roll, Merit Roll, and Growth on the NWEA. We had drawings for students with no tardies/no discipline as well as our large SOAR slip drawing. We have great students at FMS!

We are quickly approaching our second round of FMS Parent-Teacher Conferences. We took a few weeks off but are back to our Brain Teaser Mondays at FMS Lunch. We have some new champions today who were the first to get all 9 out of 9 brain teasers correct!

Our 8th Grade Woods Class took a load off after exams sitting in the hallway on their custom made footstools. These 8th graders learned basic furniture making principles to construct and upholster their own footstool. Thanks to Mr. Byrne for planning such a fun project for our FMS students!

We would like to recognize our FMS January Students of the Month. The staff is choosing 4 8th graders and 4 7th graders each month that display the S.O.A.R. expectations in our building. Each Student of the Month will receive 5 S.O.A.R. tickets for upcoming drawings, 2 Free Saginaw Spirit Tickets courtesy of Century 21 Signature Realty - Andrew Hauck , and an invite to our end of the year Student of the Month Dinner in May. Congratulations to our 8th Grade Falcons!

We had our last brain teaser champion for the semester at lunch today and they got all 8 of them right with time to spare. They received SOAR Slips and a shout out on social media for their efforts!

We have some opportunities for our students in the 8th grade and younger at the Freeland SportsZone and Freeland Little League coming up over the next few months. Some of these activities include volleyball, soccer, speed and agility training, softball and baseball. We will continue to update this link with these opportunities as we receive them.

It is the start of a new year and we had our first FMS Trivia Champion of 2024 yesterday at lunch. Even more impressive is that she beat all of our teams by herself to earn this shout out on social media and some SOAR slips!

We had our last trivia session of the year at FMS today at lunch. The Ghostbusters, who have been regular winners, were up on their Christmas knowledge today and earned their shout out on social media along with some SOAR slips!

Thank you to our Band Director Mr. Shaw for getting FMS in the Christmas spirit this morning with some festive holiday tunes. It was great to hear through the hallways to start our day!

Student Leadership spent the afternoon making tie blankets for Fleece and Thank You. The blankets are given to kids to help make their stays in hospitals more comfortable. Attached to each blankets is a positive video message for the kids. SL also made holiday cards for our veterans at our local VA Hospital. FMS is spreading Christmas Cheer for All to Hear!

This week we would like to spotlight our FMS 8th Grade Science Teacher, Mary Kay Heckman. Ms. Heckman has spent her entire 31 year career with FCSD and we are so thankful for her dedication to our students!

Some of our FMS students to a trip over to FES yesterday to mentor in Mrs. Koehler's STEM classes. We love seeing our students building relationships throughout the district! FMS Mentors will be visiting FES once a month for the rest of the school year.
