
Congratulations to FHS junior, Lily Winslow, for receiving recognition from the MSU Alumni Club of Saginaw for her scholarship, leadership and service. Lily has a 4.17 grade point average, has served in numerous leadership roles in Student Council and other clubs like Be The Change, the Green Club or the Literary Art Club, and she has also earned over 400 community service hours since starting high school three years ago. Lily was recognized at a special dinner last night along with other recipients from Saginaw County. We are so proud of you Lily, for the amazing work you are doing in our school and community!

Yesterday, all of our sophomores participated in Mock Interview Day. Thank you to Melissa Gleason and Junior Achievement for helping make this possible by sharing many local business leaders who came to conduct these interviews. This real world learning experience is something that our students benefit from tremendously, and we appreciate your support of our students.






Congratulations to Sophomore Felina Tinacci for writing a poem entitled "White Noise," which has been selected for Appelley Publishing's 2024 Rising Stars Collection. She may also be eligible for prize money, to be determined in April. Congratulations, Felina, on becoming a published writer!


FHS student in Mrs. Aimar's AP Government and Politics have been learning about political participation with an Election Simulation. Friday, they kicked off our simulation with an Exclusive Washington D.C. Meet and Greet the Candidates. Students took on the roles of candidates, party members, interest group members, campaign managers and media. Our candidates kicked off their campaigns with stump speeches and set the stage for upcoming activities. Groups were able to mingle and strategize to address the important issues for our election simulation. Great job AP Government students with your teamwork to make this simulation successful!






Mrs. Klida took her students to the Annual SLS Leadership Conference. Serenity Watts and Lila Stein attended workshops, created an action plan, listened to inspirational speakers and more. It was a great learning experience to be working with other student leaders from around the state!




FHS students in Mrs. Aimar's Economics class presented their ideas for a small business. Students made connections to economic goals in a market economy and connected to specific entrepreneurial mindsets to create their business. They projected marginal costs and benefits of potential sales. All groups were collaborative and creative. Great job Economics Students!




This week, FHS student mentors in our LINKS program attended a conference with students from Chesaning, St. Charles and Birch Run. Their goal was to learn how to help mentor their LINKS successfully, and create a more inclusive environment for all students in our school. We are so proud of the work our LINKS do at FHS!




Congratulations to senior, Ava Reed, for receiving a $1500 scholarship from the Rotary Club of Saginaw Valley. The Rotary Club held a special luncheon this week to recognize her for this accomplishment. She is pictured here, receiving her award with her parents and Ms. Essex. We are so proud of you, Ava!




FHS students from Mrs. Klida's Art classes and Mrs. Howson's Literary Art Club took a field trip to the Flint Institute of Art last week. Students learned many things while at the museum and they enjoyed their trip.

FHS is pleased to highlight Mrs. Wheatley this week.


Congratulations to our FHS Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Team, who performed their one act play at the State Festival held at Wayne State University this past weekend and took home the 4th place trophy!
The tech team consisting of Rylan Browning, John Borgula, Sophie Koepf and Cate Cole won the acclaimed Black Gaffe Technical Award for Studio Productions.

Cate Cole, Ava Avram, Matthew Hayes, Christine Cole, and Emily Neitling for Prop Design

Congratulations to our FHS students who competed at Regionals with their One Act Play and qualified for States. They will now move forward to Wayne State University on February 16-17 in the State finals. We are so proud of this group, led by Mrs. Murray, as they are the first Freeland team to perform in a One Act Play Competition!


Several members of the FHS Student Council attended a Regional MASC Leadership Conference today. Our students gained lots of ideas to share with the rest of the council, and they are excited about the plans they have coming ahead.

Congratulations to our seniors pictured here, who won Volleytuff this week! The Small Town Big Dreamz team took the victory, and those in attendance had a very good time. Thank you Mrs. Essex and Mrs. Neal for all of the behind the scenes work to support this great student event, as we look forward to the competition again next year.

Congratulations to Karie Keefer! She scored her 1000th point in tonight's varsity basketball game against Frankenmuth. Our entire Falcon community is so proud of you Karie!

The FHS seniors are taking on the juniors today at a pre-Volleytuff assembly at the elementary school . You won't want to miss our competitive Volleytuff games on Monday, January 29 at 6:30 pm. . Tickets are $3 at the door, and the doors open at 6 pm. We hope to see you there!
