Today, the Student Council from Ithaca HS participated in an exchange day with our FHS Student Council members. We also visited their school in March. This is an opportunity for the Tri Valley Conference to support our fellow league schools by sharing ideas and learning more about our unique programs., while making new friends. Thanks to Mrs. Neal and our student leaders for hosting our Ithaca guests today.

Last night, we hosted our first annual Unified Basketball Game, bringing together students of all abilities to play against one another. The students, staff and our community supported this amazing event. As you can see by the smiles, all of our participants had a great time. Congratulations to all of our athletes for an amazing game!

Our Robotics team, The Freeland Fabricators, Team 5166, had an amazing weekend at the Michigan State Championship. Their qualification matches went very well, and landed them as the 5th alliance captain, where they asked two other teams to join them as they headed into the playoff matches. Their alliance marched all the way to the last upper bracket round, before losing to Alliance 2 and moving to the lower bracket. They continued their run through the lower bracket and fought their way back to qualify for the Finals on the Consumers Energy Field. Moving away from their robot performance, their awards and pit presentation teams won the Team Sustainability Award Sponsored by Dow! With their amazing accomplishments this season, the Freeland Fabricators, Team 5166, will be competing in the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas, in just a little over a week. Good Luck at Worlds!

Students in our Woodworking program are creating amazing work! Senior Gerard Urbaniak has been learning about the lathe and rapidly developing his skills. He is currently making custom pens and learning about laminations to create interesting designs. Sophomore Gage Somers has been learning a new cutting board style, making end grain cutting boards and learning how to create unique designs using different layouts and cuts.

Our FHS Robotics Team 5166, The Freeland Fabricators, is competing at SVSU this weekend at the FIRST State tournament. After successfully winning the Impact Award (highest award) at the first tournament, and then the Championship and the Engineering Inspiration Award (second highest award) at the last tournament, they qualified for the state championship this weekend. Congratulations to junior, Easton Rosebush, who was recognized by the MSU Alumni Club of Saginaw County! He was recognized for his outstanding academics, leadership and athletic career thus far at FHS. He is pictured here with his mother, Kari Rosebush, and his counselor, Dr. Melton. We are so proud of Easton and his positive impact in our school!

Recently, Mrs. Farley visited our FHS Literary-Art Club, and donated her time to teach a painting lesson. The students had a lot of fun, and appreciated her generosity and wisdom!

Through generous donations from the Moeller family and local Saginaw business Cabinet Craft, sophomore Carter Williamson was able to create these new router cabinets for our router tables. These cabinets improve dust collection, reduce noise and create new storage for bits and tools., and as you see our students are already making great use of them. Thank you to the Moeller's and Cabinet Craft!

Have you wondered what goes on in Mr. Byrne's FHS Woods Tech Classes? Senior, Kyen Malacara, just completed this beautiful maple cabinet with a solid pine top. He incorporated soft-close under mount drawer slides and soft-close door hinges. All of his planning and hard work paid off as he will have a cabinet to last a lifetime.

FHS received an amazing message of hope and support from Terry Hessbrook with the B#4 Foundation, this morning. The B#4 Foundation strives to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention through education, outreach initiatives, advocacy, and community service. Pictured here are our Be The Change Club members, Student Council members and Terry Hessbrook.

Check out this project in Mr. Keson's FHS Advanced Manufacturing Technology class! Students are using a Shaper Origin CNC machine to cut out a wood top for a fabricated metal table. They're learning valuable skills in CNC programming, metal fabrication, and woodworking. This project is a great example of how these technologies can be combined to create something truly unique.

Are you looking for an amazing opportunity to support our seniors this year? They will be presenting their Senior Capstone projects on Thursday, March 20 from 2-5 pm. If you are interested in seeing some great work and are willing to help judge their presentations, please use this QR code to sign up. You can come for as little or long as you like. We hope to see you there!

Exciting things are happening in Mr. Keson's FHS Manufacturing Technology 2 class! Students are diving deep into sheet metal fabrication, by crafting two-drawer boxes. They're mastering techniques like forming, pop riveting for the handles, and spot welding for a strong, lasting build. It's awesome to see these projects take shape!
