FHS Student Council members, along with advisor Mrs. Neal, were fortunate to participate in this year's Marines Toys for Tots event. It is the 75th anniversary of this special program which works to provide hope and the magic of the holidays to children and families in need. Students were excited to have their bus driver, Ron, work alongside them - going above and beyond his duties that day. All worked hard in hand selecting and packing bags of toys for 150 local families! "It is our favorite day of the year and we feel so lucky to be able to be part of such an amazing program" said Mrs. Neal.




Our Freeland FNV hockey players had lunch today with Pre-K, K, and first graders at the Learning Center. Thank you to our hockey team for sharing your positive influence within our district!

Last week, FHS had three teams compete in the JA Titan Challenge. Students built a mock phone company and the objective was to make the most money in twelve quarters. There were 12 teams from Clare, Freeland, and Mt. Pleasant High Schools. Congratulations to our three teams who finished!

On Thursday, December 8, students were able to participate in a job shadow at HealthSource Saginaw. Students chose their career area and were paired with employees from either the medical, human services, or business areas of the facility. Freeland enjoys a long standing partnership with Healthsource Saginaw.


FHS students in Mrs. Keefer's Parent and Child Development class attended a field trip to U of M My Michigan Health Simulation Center to learn all about childbirth and participate in a birth simulation. It was a great learning experience for all of our students.

FHS students in Mrs. Aimar's Government class played an Electoral College simulation game to help the students better understand how we elect the President of the United States.

SLS President Cadence Swartz and SLS Secretary Jocelyn Chislea, wrote and were awarded a grant for Strive for a Safer Drive. The money they received will be used for a safe driving campaign at Freeland High School. Great job ladies!

Freeland High School SLS and Freeland Middle School Student Council organized the annual food drive this year. Almost 2,000 items were collected for the St. Agnes Community Food Pantry. Thanks to everyone who supported this effort to help those in our community!



FHS art students and members of the Literary Art Club, attended a special trip last Friday to the MSU Broad Museum. A great time of learning was had by all! Thank you Mrs. Klida and Mrs. Howson for organizing this learning experience.




Auditions for the 2023 musical, Frozen, will be Tuesday, December 6th and Thursday, December 8th in the high school band room from 2:45p-8:30pm. Roles are open to all students Kindergarten-12th grade and a variety of dancers, singers, gymnasts, and comedians are needed! Please prepare a 30-second clip of a song of your choice to sing; a cd player and phone connection will be provided for your music. FHS is celebrating Kindness Week, and our Be The Change group has provided special activities for our students. Passing out positive affirmations before school, sidewalk chalk messages, find a partner day prizes, and sending letters of kindness to others were all part of our celebration. Thank you Be The Change for making our school a more positive and kind place to be!





FHS would like to thank Harbor Freight, as they gave us a $200 gift card to purchase some needed consumables and supplies for students in our woodworking classes.


Congratulations to FHS Senior Grace Kostrzewa! Grace was named our DAR Good Citizen at an award ceremony last Friday. She is pictured here with her parents, Scott and Michelle Kostrzewa, as well as her Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Essex. We are so proud of Grace for receiving this recognition.

Thank you to everyone that came to support our FHS Freeland's Got Talent Wednesday night! All of our performers did fantastic. The juniors were the winning Student Council Act. The fan favorite was Jaley Puhalsky. In third place was Braedyn Hoffman, in second place, Ella Mae Klopf, and in first place Bella Reed. Congratulations to all!

FHS congratulates junior, Remmi MacDonald today! He was one of 12 winners selected to be in the Hemlock Semi Conductor Calendar Contest with the theme "A Year of Exploration: Discovering the Ideas that Shape Our Communities". They chose his artwork that was inspired by local Native American designs and colors he created in Graphic Arts class last year titled "The Loon of the Ojibwe".
