The FCSD Board of Education has unanimously voted to place a tax-neutral bond proposal on the November 3 ballot.
At its August 11 meeting, the Freeland Community School District Board of Education voted unanimously, 7-0, to place a $21.2 million bond proposal on the November 3, 2026, ballot. The proposed bond would address the District's highest-priority projects. Those projects focus on safety and security, site and infrastructure improvements, student learning, and replacing building systems that have reached the end of their useful life.
Among the key projects are:
Redesigning the pick-up and drop-off area at Freeland Middle/High School
Replacing roofs at the Freeland Learning Center and Freeland Elementary School
Replacing and upgrading fire alarm systems in all District buildings
Replacing boilers, air handling units, exhaust fans, and rooftop units
Replacing and upgrading lighting in the Performing Arts Center
The District will host three open community forums to provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the proposal, review the planned projects, understand the tax-neutral financing structure, and ask questions. All forums will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Freeland Elementary School Library/STEM room, and community members are encouraged to attend any of the three sessions:
Thursday, August 13
