Back to School Reminders

Welcome Back to another wonderful school year! I know that 2018-2019 is going to be a great year, and cannot wait to work with our 7th and 8th grade students this year. If you were unable to make the Freeland Middle School Open House, please review this presentation that provides updates on pick-up/drop-off expectations, building open/close times, start and end of day times and other important housekeeping items to get you started with the school year.

A few important reminders to all students:

  1. There will be an assembly at 7:40am on Tuesday morning. All students should report to the gym after the 5 minute warning bell at 7:35am. Please only bring a pencil/notebook to the assembly. All other items can be picked up after the assembly. No materials are required at the assembly if you just want to leave everything in your locker.
  2. Immediately after the assembly, if you have a middle school class you will go to the middle school classroom and get started with the class. If you have a middle school class that is located in the high school, please go out to the front of the middle school building (in front of the gym) and find your first hour teacher's name. Stand below the sign of that teacher and wait for him/her to meet you at the sign. Your teacher will take you to class first hour. The same thing will happen for Mrs. Howson and Mrs. Wheatley's classes 2nd hour, as well as 7th hour middle school exploratory rotations that are in the high school. If you have questions on this please see Mrs. Wulff in the office.

If you were not able to make the Open House, your Chromebook will be available in the main office on the first day of school. Please report to Mrs. Starr in the middle school office prior to 7:40am to pick up your Chromebook. You will not be given your Chromebook unless you have your signed Acceptable Use Policy and insurance money (if needed).

For the 2018-2019 school year, Freeland Middle/High School will NOT be purchasing student planners. 7th and 8th grade students will receive direct instruction from teachers during the first two weeks of school on how to set up Google Calendar and Google Keep for an electronic planner this year. If you prefer to purchase your child a paper planner, we fully support this, but they will not be provided by the school this year. All teachers will have green lanyards for bathroom/hall passes this year instead of planners used as hall passes.

Please review the Freeland Middle/High School 2018-2019 Handbook with students this year. Teachers will be going over this handbook with students during the first week of school. On Thursday, during 6th hour, students will be signing an electronic agreement indicating they agree with the handbook policies and will follow these policies for the 2018-2019 school year.

This school year, our building theme is Every Journey Has a Great Story. We want to make sure that this chapter of our students' journey is filled with positive memories, engaging learning experiences, and an exploration of the world, and all of the opportunities it holds for our students as they continue to build their story, one step at a time.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have with you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. ~Harriet Tubman ~
