Please realize the following about your school district:
- The staff of Freeland Schools serves this community by loving your children and working hard to put learning first in a safe environment for our students.
- Freeland has behavioral expectations for students and has not, and will not, let the learning environment be disrupted.
- We are unaware of any of our students who identify as animals.
It saddens me to have to have to send this message and make that last statement, but rampant misinformation on social media and through other outlets regarding Freeland Middle School has made it necessary. Some of our children are being called names, identified as something they are not, and are being accused of things that are simply not true. Growing up is tough enough without having adults perpetuating untruths and saying hurtful things. Your school will protect your children, no matter their height, weight, socioeconomic status, race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other way they may be targeted. We exist to serve this community and our children, all of them.
Should you have questions or concerns about your school, please contact your child’s building principal. They would gladly answer your questions and provide you with accurate information.
We appreciate you supporting the children of Freeland.
