Mrs. DeFever

This week, the Freeland Learning Center is highlighting kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Caitlin DeFever, one of our newest members of the Learning Center team.  Mrs. DeFever is in her second year of teaching at the Learning Center.  Prior to coming to Freeland Community Schools, she taught kindergarten for six years at Shepherd Elementary and preschool at Coleman Railway Family Center for one year.  Mrs. DeFever is an extremely positive person and approaches each day with excitement and enthusiasm.  One of the things that makes Mrs. DeFever such an asset is her genuine love for working with children and her whole-child approach to teaching, focusing on the students’ social and emotional development right along with their academic growth.

When asked what she finds most rewarding about her position, Caitlin said, “Working with the youngest learners is so rewarding because they are genuinely excited about everything.  Watching them grow as learners and individuals is amazing.  I love seeing them learn how to get along with their peers.  Every year I get excited to get to know their individual and awesome personalities!”  Caitlin also shared, “Growing up in the Bullock Creek area, I love the sense of community that the Freeland Community School District offers.  Students are excited about coming to school and parents are actively involved in their children’s growth and success at school.”  Thank you Mrs. DeFever for all you do for the Freeland Learning Center and the Freeland Community School District!
